 Jo Driver, BA, MSc

(She/They)

I am a fully qualified Art Psychotherapist, a full member of BAAT (British Association of Art Therapy), HCPC (Health and Care Professionals Council), ICO (Information Comissioners Office) and BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I trained at Queen Margeret University, Edinburgh, graduating with a Merit in 2025.

Before my Masters, I spent six years working with children with high support needs, enabling them to live the fullest and most independent lives as possible. I also volunteered in arts and drama with those children to help develop performances that counted towards their Duke of Edinburgh awards, and performed at historic venues such as Snape Maltings, Suffolk.

I currently work for a charity that provides counselling and therapy for Women and people who identify as women as an art therapist. And my current other work includes working for Starpic Project, a charity with its mission being to provide opportunities and a safe space for disadvantaged members of the community of Niddrie, Craigmillar and Bingham. I also volunteer for LGBT Youth Scotland, where I am part of the team for the Mental Health Youth Comission, who's current work is about developing training for mental health professionals to work with LGBT Youth, and to develop a resource pack for LGBT Youth that provides signposting and advice.

Me as a therapist

My practice is follows my training in the psychodynamic approach, as well as art psychotherapy but it is also informed by person-centred approach, I also take inspiration from Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and compassionate focused therapy. All of which provides a non-judgemental and supportive environment that keeps you in the heart of the work that we do together.

My life outside of the therapy room

I understand there can be a lot of curiousity about your therapist away from clinical practice, so I'll let you know. I live a varied life; alongside my own creative practice I play rugby and enjoy making my body strong at the gym. I am also an avid musical theatre lover, and I enjoy the quiet that video gaming can provide.
